Comedy
I love stand-up comedy, because nothing beats a good laugh. Well, maybe pleasure does. Either way, with comedy and pleasaure dopamine gets released.
One of the things I love about stand-up comedy is, I get to hear someone’s unique view and take on things. How they see the world, and how they then package that view, and fire it back out as a joke or story.
I guess we all have a unique take on the world. However, unless we’re standing on a comedy stage with mic in hand, some unique takes are probably best not verbalised to the world.
Four comedians I find rib-breaking funny are: Carl Barron, Nikki Glasser, Jimmy Carr, and Jim Gaffigan. I think I’ve nearly watched every clip Jim Gaffigan has on the internet.
As far as jobs go, telling jokes and traveling the world sounds good, but it’s far from easy.
A comedian doesn’t know if their material is funny or not until they put it to the test. And the only way to test it? Is up on stage in front of a live crowd. I’ve been to a few comedy nights where some of the acts have bombed. It’s a tough way to learn your trade when the crowd turns on you.
What I find interesting at a comedy show is a heckler. There’s usually always one or a number of them. I don’t know why someone turns up to a show, and then heckles. There must be reasons for this that I’m unaware of. Maybe some people just want to be the centre of attention all the time. Who knows. There’s nothing better than a comedian putting the heckler back in their box.
Laughter is good medicine for us.
If you feel you need a laugh, or you simply want to boost you mood. Watch some comedy. If you’re heading to YouTube, type in Nikki Glasser Tom Brady roast.
